Red Wing Daily Register, Mar. 3, 1911:
George Rowles of Belle Creek died last evening at 10 o'clock at his residence, death being due to old age. The deceased was born in Co. Tipperary, Ireland in 1823. He left for the United States at the age of 27, settling in New York, and later in Wisconsin. For the past 42 years [since abt 1869] he has been a resident of Belle Creek. He is survived by four sons, George of Spokane, WA; John of Morris, MN; and Edward and Patrick of Belle Creek. His wife died 16 years ago. Mr. Rowles was actively engaged in the work on his large farm in Belle Creek until two years ago [1909], and has been able to mingle with his neighbors until his last illness of two weeks' duration. Arrangements for the funeral have been deferred until word can be had from the distant survivors. He was a Charter member of Catholic Temperance Society, one of six still living in 1910 who were present at the organization in 1872.
