Leonard Andrew Barrett, 91, of Kittanning Care Center, Manor Township, died Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at his residence. He was born in Tarentum, Allegheny County, February 26, 1909 to David Johnson and Mary Blanche (Spicher) Barrett. His family moved that year to Templeton, Armstrong County where he grew up. Mr. Barrett was a laborer for the former Harbinson-Walker Refactories for 50 years. He was one of the first winners of the PA Lottery when he won $25,000. He was married to the former Leah Belle (Snyder) "Jerry" Barrett who preceded him in death in 1985. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by the following brothers and sisters, Mona, Robert, Wallace, William, Clarence, Kenneth, and Thomas Barrett all of Templeton; H. Lee Barrett of Kittanning; Lillian "Idell" Bigley of Springdale, Kathadine "Kitty" Brewer of Leechburg, Evelyn Brewer, Schenley, A. Yvonne "Von" Butler, of Templeton, an unamed infant of Templeton. Surviving are Vivian G. "Susie" Ulmer of Lancaster and David D. "Beans" Barrett of Thurmont, MD.
There will be no public visitation for Leonard Barrett or funeral services for Leonard who died Jan. 30, 2002. Burial will take place beside his wife in Smicksburg Cemetery. Arrangements by Bauer Funeral Home, Kittanning.
