Obituary -
"Services for Ernest D. Bentz, 82, 440 N. Logan St., will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Congregational Church. U.C.C. The Rev. Edwin Mehlhaff will officiate.
Bentz died Saturday morning at the local hospital.
He was born May 18, 1890, at Hooper. He was roadmaster for the Chicago-Northwestern Railroad until retiring in 1947. Bentz and his widow Mollie observed their 61st wedding anniversary Nov. 26, 1972. He was a 56-year member of the Masonic Lodge A.F.& A.M. Tangier Shrine and First Congregational Church, U.C.C.
Survivors include his widow; daughters, Mrs. Wilfred (Doris) McAllister, San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Elmer (Wilma) Child, Silbey, Iowa; sons, Howard D. Lost Hills, Calif.; Harold D. Seaside, Ore.; Kenneth C., Independence, Mo. Gerald E., Fremont; Harlan E., Porterville, Calif.; and Richard T., Racine, Wis.; brother Don, Oregon City, Ore.; sister, Mrs. Troy (Lydia) Horner, Oregon City; 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation began today at Lattin-Dugan-Chambers Funeral Home. Visitation also will be at the church from noon until time of service.
A memorial has been established for the church.
Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery."
