Agnes Jane Hale was the daughter of James J. Hale and Susan A. Stewart of Marengo County, Alabama. She was born in Marengo County and came to Texas with her parents about 1866. They eventually settled in Madisonville, Madison County.

Agnes married Charles Middleton Breaker Roberts about 1872 in Madisonville. She and Charles had 15 children and all but one lived to adulthood. Memorials for these children are linked below.

Agnes and Charles eventually moved their family to Alvin, Brazoria County, Texas, in 1895. They were very active in the Baptist Church in Madisonville and in Alvin. They also lived for several years in Galveston, Texas, where Charles and his sons worked on the wharves at the Port of Galveston.

Agnes seemed to have been be devoted to family and always available to help with children and grandchildren when there was a need. She and Charles always seemed to live close to her parents James J. and Susan Stewart Hale. They were in Nanafalia, Marengo County, Alabama; Madisonville, Madison County, Texas; Alvin, Brazoria County, Texas and Galveston, Galveston County, Texas at the same time.

Agnes Jane Hale Roberts died in 1938 at the age of 85 in Alvin. She is buried next to her husband, Charles Middleton Breaker Roberts, in the Confederate Cemetery at Alvin, Brazoria County, Texas.
