Obit: Mon Sep 16, 1968 W. J. Branning Dies at Callicoon
Walter J. Branning, RD 1 Pleasant Mount, died Saturday in Callicoon Hospital after an illness. Born in Equinunk son of William and Mary Mathews Branning, he was a retired farmer. Mr. Branning was a member of Pleasant Mount Methodist Church and its Mens bible Class, He was a member of the IOOF, Pleasant Mount, a director of the Productive Credit Assoc. and a past president of the Dairymens League. Surviving are his widow, the former Harriet Layton; a daughter Mrs. Richard [Shirley] Jennings, Stroudsburg; a son, Walter Eugene, at home; nine grandchildren; a brother, Frank and two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Weil and Mrs. Roscoe Hessburger, Equinunk. The funeral will be Tuesday from the Walter E. Steelman Funeral Home, 313 Park St. Honesdale, with services at 1:30 pm in the Pleasant Mount Methodist Church by Revs. Pearl Oserhout and Richard Schuster. Interment, Pleasant Mount Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience.
