Mrs. Laura Tolin, 79, Dies Here Tuesday
Mrs. Laura Alice Tolin, 79, of Soldier, a long-time resident of Pottawatomie and Jackson counties, passed away Tuesday at Community hospital.
Mrs. Tolin was born December 27, 1882, in Havensville, and was a member o f the Havensville Methodist church.
She is survived by three daughters, Miss Cora Belle Tolin, Ottawa, Canada, Miss Helen Tolin, St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. N. M. Perry, Columbia, MO.; two sons, Paul Tolin, Soldier, and Gene Tolin, Buhl, Idaho; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Alexander, San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Grace Smith, Denver, and Mrs. Ada Gibson, Topeka; five grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral services are being held today (Thursday) at 2 o'clock at the Methodist Church in Havensville.
OBITUARY
Laura Alice, daughter of Milt and Dora Proctor was born DEC. 27, 1882 , at the farm home near Havensville, Kansas, and passed away April 10, 1962. Laura spent her entire life in her home community, and was a member of the Havensville Methodist in long standing. On April 27, 1904 was married to Roy Tolin of Soldier. They established their home northeast of Havensville where their children were born and reared, remaining there until Mr Tolin's death in 1951, when she moved to Soldier, her present home.
The survivors are Miss Cora Belle Tolin of Ottawa, Canada, Miss Helen Tolin, St. Louis, Mo., Mrs Hazel Perry, Columbia, Md., Paul Tolin, Soldier; and Gene, Buhl, Idaho. In 1925 her sister, Roxie, passed away leaving two small boys, Roy and Don DuCharm, without a mother. At that time she and Mr Tolin took them into their home and put them through school and on to high school. Others to mourn her loss are five grandchildren, Benny and Brenda, of Soldier, Janet Tolin of Topeka, Jim of Buhl, Ida., and Michael Perry of Columbia, Mo. One great granddaughter, Laura Dawn Tolin, Buhl. Three sisters, Edith Alexander, San Diego, Calif.; Grace Smith, Denver, Colo., Ada Gibson, Topeka. One sister, three brothers preceded her in death.
Services were held at the Havensville methodist church April 12, 1962 a t 2 p.m. with Rev. Paul Holter, officiating. Music was furnished by Fred Padden, accompanied by Myra Marcoux. Interment in Havensville cemetery. Casket bearers were Joyce Tolin, Gerald Tolin, Lyle Tolin, Worth Tolin, Virgil Proctor and Otis Proctor. Flower ladies were Veda Armstrong, Nancy Myers, Lucille Bottom, Mrs. Ross Manuel, Elaine Sauvage.
