ELSIE JOSEPHINE BINGAMAN

Elsie Josephine Molesworth, daughter of Alfred and Mary Jane Molesworth, the seventh daughter of a family of eight daughters, was born October 21, 1875 in Pleasant township, Lucas county, Iowa. She passed peacefully away Saturday, Dec. 20, 1952, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marie Burgett, at the age of 77 years, one month and 29 days.

She was united in marriage to Robert Baird Bingaman on March 15, 1899 at the home of her parents. He preceded her in death on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 1940. To this union 12 children were born, 10 of whom are living. Christian M. having died in infancy and Mark D., twin to Paul C., was killed March 19, 1945 while serving in the navy on the ship U.S. Franklin.

She is survived by her children: Alfred B. Bingaman, Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Lois Channell, Rio Linda, Calif., S. Lowell Bingaman, Auburn, Calif., Mrs. May L. Sanders, Ventura, Calif., Mrs. Dorothy J. Lovely, Oxnard, Calif., Paul C. Bingaman, Burlington, Iowa; Mrs. Iva V. Garland, Villisca, Iowa and Mrs. E. Marie Burgett, Mrs. Mildred G. Wright, Mrs. Eathel L. Van Zee, of Chariton, Iowa.

She also leaves 18 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Wyland of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. E. Lois Dawson of Chariton, and many other relatives and friends.

Her entire life was spent in Lucas county with the exception of two years in Kansas and one in Oregon. The past seven years she had made her home with two of her daughters, Mrs. Marie Burgett and Mrs. Eathel Van Zee.

Her interests were always in her family and church and although she had not been active in the church in recent years, she was always interested in hearing about it. She will be greatly missed by her family and by all who knew her.

As a young girl she united with the Pleasant Prairie Methodist church and in 1912 became a charter member of the Nazarene church at Chariton, where her membership remained until her death.
