George William Leeson died at the age of 77 on July 26, 1946 in St. Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri of Mitral Insufficiency. He was born February 1869 in Cummings, Atchison County, Kansas to Thomas Sherman Leason and Mary Frances Strange. He had five siblings: Hattie Harriet W. Leason (Covert), Catherine Leeson (1862-?), Marquis 'Marcus' L. Leeson (1865-1930), Samuel Leeson (1866-1946), and John Fowler Leeson (1879-1941).

He married Cynthia Mae Massie on November 24, 1893 in Council Grove, Morris County, Kansas. To this union they had 10 children: James William Leeson (1894-1971), Charles Leeson (1896-1925), Rada Mae Leeson (1897-1975), Zella Massie Leeson (1900-1903), Harry T. Leeson (1900-1939), George 'Archie' Leeson (1903-1977), Carl G. Leeson (1910-1990), Leroy 'Roy' D. Leeson (1913-1980), Dorothy Leeson Coy (1916-2012), and Thomas Leeson (1921-2004).

He is buried at the Daily Cemetery in Savannah, Andrew County, Missouri.
