David R. Hamon, age 91 of Deepwater, MO passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015 in Kansas City, MO. David was born on January 26, 1924 to Robert F. Hamon and Della ‘Littrell' Hamon of Green Forest, Arkansas. After high school, David married Iva Lea Wright on August 19, 1942. Six months later he enlisted and served during WWII in the U.S. Army. He was extremely proud of his service to his country. After WWII, David became a stone mason and was very proud of the work he did on several buildings in and around Kansas City, like Arrowhead (Chiefs) Stadium, the Federal Building and especially the Truman Library. While working on the Truman Library, he had the honor of meeting Harry Truman. He enjoyed spending time with his bride, Iva Lea and family, attending church with dear friends Frank and June Clark, deer and turkey hunting with brother Gordon, his close friend Daryl Lytle, his grandkids and was an ever faithful fan of the Kansas City Royals. Survivors include 2 daughters, Wilma Wagner (Ronald) and Loretta Knabe (Gary); 7 grandchildren, Robert Wagner (Tracy), Sheryl Ramey (Rick), Linda Young (Doug), David Wagner, Rhonda Boldrey (John), Lori Oster (Don) and Kimberlee Chambers (Dan); 17 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandson. David was preceded in death by the love of his life and sweetheart of 62 years, Iva Lea; his parents; 2 sisters, Alice and Lena; 3 brothers, Lloyd, Arthur and Carol; a grandson Ronald Wagner II; and a great-granddaughter, Rachael Ramey.
Funeral services were conducted May 30, 2015, followed by Military Honors and interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mt. Zion, MO. The family requested that memorial contributions be made to Henry County Memory Fund and left in care of Consalus Funeral Home.
