He lived and worked there until he entered the U. S. Army during World War II and served first in Alaska and later was at Omaha Beach. After the war was over and he returned home, he married Paulina Hillhouse in 1946 in Laclede County, Missouri. They had a daughter, Karen, in 1947.
The Bookhout family eventually left Missouri and settled in Orange County, California. It was there that Andy died and was buried in 1979.
