Math Karls, 83, a retired Marytown farmer, died late Saturday morning at his home on Route 2, New Holstein, after a lingering illness.
A native of Fond du Lac County, he was born November 19, 1870 at Johnsburg, a son of Peter and Christine Knaus Karls. He was married to Katherine Pauly of Charlsburg on January 24, 1893.
The couple spent their entire married life on the homestead farm at Marytown. Mrs. Karls preceded her husand in death on March 24, 1938
Survivors are foud dughters, Mrs. Henry Daun, Mrs. Leo Nicolay and Mrs. Gilbert Anhalt, New Holstein, and Mrs. Norbert Schmitz, Marytown; two sons, Joseph, of New Holstein, and Herman, on the homestead; 34 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Peter of Jericho, Nick, of Stockbridge, and John, of Johnsburg, and two sisters, Miss Mary Karls and Mrs John Daun, Fond du Lac.
One son, Aloysius and three brothers also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lisowe Funeral home, St. Cloud, and at 10 a.m. at St. Marys Church at Marytown. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
