Mrs. L. Marie "Nanny" Keeney, 78, of 11237 Coppermine Road, Woodsboro, died Friday, Nov. 13, at her residence. She was the wife of R. Brantly Keeney, who died 1973. Born Jan. 3, 1914, in Frederick county, she was a daughter of the late George Franklin and Emma Kate Kolb Ray.
Mrs. Keeney was an active member of Grace Rocky Hill Lutheran Church, where she was elected as one of the first female council members, where she was also a member of the Willing Workers. She was a charter member of the ladies auxiliary of the Woodsboro Volunteer Fire Co., where she held many offices. She was a member of the Frederick County Ladies Auxiliary. In 1949 she was employed by Shriner Manufacturing of Woodsboro and remained when it became H.L. Hartz, and retired a final time in 1989, after 40 years of employment. She received her high school diploma in 1975. She was a devoted to her family and friends.
Interment will be in Rocky Hill Cemetery.
