Catherine was the beautiful daughter of Mary Sarah Minnick and Thomas Butterfield.
October 21, 1852 Catherine was united in marriage to Joseph Johnson. Mr. Johnson was the son of Eliza Hyde Johnson and Elias Johnson.
Catherine and Joseph were the parents of Charles W. Johnson (1854), Benjamin Fremont Johnson (1856), Andrew J. Johnson(1859) and twins Durrell and Lutrell Johnson (1863).
Two children preceded Catherine and Joseph in death, daughter Frances in 1854 and their son Anthony Lewis Johnson in 1860.
Catherine's beloved husband Joseph enlisted in the Ohio Infantry (Union Army) and died of disease at Murfreesboro, Tennessee on January 1, 1865. Leaving Catherine with their 2 year old twins, Lutrell and Durell, 6 year old Andy, 9 year old Ben and 11 year old Charles, life must have been a struggle for the 30 year old widow with 5 young sons.
Catherine married John Abraham Taylor June 28, 1866 in Liberty, Union, Ohio. From all accounts, John was a wonderful father to the 5 young Johnson boys and a loving husband to Catherine.
Catherine and John were blessed with two sons, Gilbert Joseph Taylor (1872) and Jasper Logan Johnson(1876).
Catherine was survived by her husband John who passed 28 years later and by her beloved 7 sons.
