John was the son of Mary Warner and Abraham Taylor. He was the devoted brother of Julia Ann (Elias Johnson, Jr.), Elizabeth, Clarissa Louisa, Susannah, Samuel, George and Moses
Taylor.

Mr. Taylor was united in matrimony to Sophronia Camron, the daughter of Elizabeth and Samuel Camron. Sophronia proceeded John in death in 1862.

June 28, 1866 John married Catherine Butterfield Johnson, the beautiful widow of Joseph Johnson (1831-1865) who had died in Murfreesboro, Tennessee during the Civil War.
Catherine Butterfield Johnson was the daughter of Mary Sarah Minnick (1814-1888) (2nd marriage to John Timothy Middleton)and Thomas Butterfield (1798-1845)

Mrs. Johnson was the mother of seven children, five of whom survived. The youngest being 3 year old twin sons, Lutrell and Durell Johnson born in 1863. Charles Johnson born in 1854, Benjamin Fremont Johnson born 1856 and Andrew Jackson Johnson born in 1859.

John and Catherine had two children to complete their family, Gilbert Joseph Taylor born in 1872 and Jasper Logan Taylor born in 1876,

John was proceeded in death by his beloved wife Catherine in 1886.


Editors note; John Taylor's sister, Julia Ann married Elias Johnson, Jr. who was the brother of Catherine's Butterfield's first husband, Joseph Johnson.
