Note: Harrison, Boone Co., Arkansas Friday August 2, 1928 R.S. Armitage, aged 83, died at midnight, July 25, at the homeof his daughter, Mrs. John E. Mason, at Searcy. The body will be taken to Harrison Friday morning and the funeral will be held at three o'clock in the Christian church of that city. Mr.Armitage's death followed a lingering illness of several years.He had spent the winter and spring at the home of his daughterMrs. Clio Harper in Little Rock. Robert Shelley Armitage was born in Worcester, Mass., in 1845 and had been a resident in Harrison since 1874. He and Flora Steidley were married September 26, 1875, and celebrated their golden wedding in 1925. He studied law at Fayetteville and later engaged in the banking business at Harrison. He owned one of the largest farms adjoining the town of Harrison. In 1907 he was owner and editor of the Boone Banner for a short time. He also served at one time as receiver of the United States Land Office at Harrison. Later he engaged in religious work and was for a time State Sunday School Evangelist. He was a life long member of the Christian Church, a thorough Bible scholar and a most devout Christian. He is survived by his wife, seven children, nine grandchildren and two sisters. The children are Mrs. Clio (Zella) Harper of Little Rock, Mrs. JohnE. (Cleo) Mason of Searcy, Miss Flora Armitage of the Little Rock High School faculty, Mrs. Earl E. (Reta) Payne of Rosvell,New Mexico, Roy W. Armitage of Raymondsville, Texas, GrodonArmitage of Wheatley, Ark., and Lawrence Armitage of Chicago,Il. The two sisters are Mrs. Phoebe Tubbs of Seymour,Wisconsin, and Mrs. Frank Tremaine of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin
