RAY TUCKER
---Howard Ray Tucker died Saturday on the Hugh Conley farm west of La Plata where he had gone on a fishing trip. He had left home about noon and was to meet Mrs. Tucker and Harmon for a picnic supper. He was dead when they arrived.
---Howard Ray Tucker was the son of Lorenzo Harlan and Mary Evelyn Tucker and was born near La Plata in Macon county, Missouri on December 17, 1885.
---Mr. Tucker was married to Rebecca Jackson Cummins on March 3, 1922. To this union one son, Harmon, was born.
---Mr. Tucker has been section foreman for the Wabash Railroad for forty years and would have retired on December 17 had he lived.
---He joined the Chariton Grove Baptist Church when a young man and later moved his membership to the La Plata Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent for several years. He was also a member of the Woodmen Lodge.
---He is survived by his wife, one son, Harmon, who is a senior in high school; his daughter, Mrs. Deloma Carder of Perry, Missouri; two brothers, Earl Tucker of Novelty, Missouri and Mern Tucker of South Gifford, Missouri; three sisters, Mrs. Clarence Keithly of La Plata, Mrs. Jeff Wood of La Plata and Mrs. Maud Smith of Callao, Missouri; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
---Besides his parents, one brother, W. Zellar Tucker and one sister, Mrs. Frank Vose preceded him in death.
---Funeral services for Mr. Tucker were held at 2:00 Tuesday at the Baptist Church conducted by the pastor, Rev. C.E. Thompson, assisted by Rev. Fred L. Hudson. Music consisted of a solo, "Holy City" by Mrs. Louise Bragg, accompanied by Mrs. Earl Harker; a quartet, "In The Garden" by Mable Brockman, Louise Bragg, Elvin Bragg and Rev. W.H. Hansford, and a solo, "The Old Rugged Cross," by Mrs. L. Z. Norris, accompanied by Mrs. Fred Wilson of Perry, Missouri.
---Mr. and Mrs. Richard Carder of Perry, Mo., daughter and son-in-law of Mr. Tucker, were here to attend funeral services. Others from Perry who came were Mr. and Mrs. Luther Adair, Mrs. Ren Norris, Mrs. Fred Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Fishback, Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Norris, Mrs. Thelma Swan, Mrs. Clyde Wilhite and Mrs. Smith.
---Mrs. Tucker's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Graydon Cummins of Excelsior Springs, were here and also friends from Kirksville, Atlanta, Greentop and Macon.
