Fred was a farmer and pioneer in the "Canning" industry in Missouri. He was involved in the construction and operation of canning plants in MO, AR, TX, & OK.

He began initially in Seneca, Newton Co., MO in 1927 by starting out canning tomato's and green beans, then expanded beyond Missouri's borders into other states, canning all sorts of vegetables, fruits, etc. Several of his sons assisted in the operations and management of these plants through the years.

The Akin family lived and
farmed in the Purdy, Missouri
area for many decades. In the
latter years of Mr. Akin's life,
he and his wife moved into the
downtown area to be near his
Daughter and Son-in-law.

They were a beloved couple
by many in the community.
