accomplish many tasks. She was a
talented seamstress, making apparel
as well as household items.

She was an award-winning painter!
As an accomplished 'china painter',
she became a well known talent in
her own right! (She took lessons
from the acclaimed artist, Grace
Tinker of Pierce City, Mo.)
The walls of Freddie's home are
adorned with an array of beautiful
china plates she painted herself!
The designs include a plate with a
garlands of delicate sweet peas or
an arch of pastel roses curving at
the edge of a plate or lush grapes...
She also has several oils of family
scenes.

The Hemphill home place was
adorned with a gigantic, antique
spinning wheel, old trunks and
much more. The house was a
trove of wonders.

The lawn featured a huge, covered
'outdoor room' with inviting tables
and chairs. It was the perfect / fun
location for a party or to just
sit and read.

Near the backdoor of the Hemphill home
is a small decorative pool, complete with
an operating wooden / turning water-wheel.
Visitors always found this an amazing
feature and would stop to watch the 'water
action' for a loooong time before going
inside!

Across the circle drive was the beautiful
flag stone and wood barn. Across the face
of the upper portion read the name 'HEMPHILL'.

## MEMORIAL WORDS ##

"With what a deep
devoutness of woe
I wept thy absence
- o'er and o'er again
Thinking of thee,
still thee, till
thought grew pain,
And memory,
like a drop that,
night and day,
Falls cold and ceaseless,
wore my heart away!"
