Captain Willard Cobb was a son of Capt Elkanah Cobb and Mary "Willard" Cobb was born in Rutland Vermont March 1781. He served as a officer in the War of 1812 and was in charge of a 3lb Cannon, Willard married Amy Allen a daughter of Caleb Allen. after the war Willard opened a storehouse at Polseys landing Fort Ann NY where he remained till 1828 he then migrated west to Decatur County Indiana first bringing his mother and several brothers and sisters and their family the family went on to Mahaska County Iowa in 1844 bringing daughters Marietta Cobb Dart w/o Wm S Dart. Parolina Miami W/O W. B. Street,and Sarah Emma W/O E. G. Crosthwait.The family remained there and Willard and Amy are buried at the Old White Cemetery in Oskaloosa Iowa his daughters also remained in Iowa his son Willard Burr Cobb remained in Decatur and White County Indiana and he died in 1849 and buried at the sand creek cemetery, Decatur county Indiana.
