Obituary taken from a funeral card for Floyd, thank you Lois Shaw for the card:
"Floyd Blanks, the youngest of six children was born to the late Gabriel M. Blanks and Laura Ware on April 25,1924, in Kerrville, Texas. He attended Phyllis Wheatley High School in San Antonio, Texas and graduated from Doyle High School in Kerrville,Texas. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served in World War II,Korean Conflict, and Vietnam where he received several medals and accommodations. After World War II, he attended Houston Tillotson College. His education was interrupted when he returned to serve his country. Upon completion of his military career, of twenty-six years, he returned to San Antonio,Texas. As a member of Second Baptist Church he was on the Male Usher Board, transportation ministry, and instrumental in planning the church playground.
He departed his life on January 22,2000. His brothers L.G. , and Milton Blanks, sisters, Lydia Jefferson and Annie Lee Wheat preceded him in death. He leaves behind his three children Floyd M. Blanks, and Gloria M. Walker, San Antonio, Texas, and James D. Blanks, Ann Arbor, Michigan. One sister Florine Clay, Kerrville,Texas, his loving companion Ardene Hines, grandchildren, great grandchildren, one niece, two nephews, his extended family and a host of relatives and friends."
