Florine Clay, age 92 of Kerrville, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012 in a local hospital. She was born December 17, 1919 in Kerrville to Gabe and Laura (Ware) Blanks. In March, 1970, she married Leonard Howard Clay in Kerrville.
Florine was a retired nurse's aide at the Kerrville State Hospital. She attended Cabbage Hill and completed high school at Doyle High School. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church where she was assistant superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday School teacher, V.P. of the Usher Board, announcing clerk, chairman of the Kitchen Committee and was a member of the finance committee of WMU. She was also a member of OES Mt. Top #198.
She is survived by nephews, Tom Blanks, John Jefferson and wife, Thelma, James Blanks, and Clifton Fifer; niece, Gloria Walker and husband, Charles; and two children she raised, Sully "Sandy" Woodland and Jean Woodland Smith.
Services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2012, 11 AM at Mount Olive Baptist Church. Visitation will preceded the service at 10 AM. Interment will be at Garden of Memories North Cemetery.
