Miles Benjamin Lewis, 74, lifetime resident of Pemiscot County, died at his home in Braggadocio last Saturday, August 6, after an illness of several weeks. He was born at Braggadocio September 13, 1891, the son of Thomas Clay and Nancy Ann Lewis.
He attended the Braggadocio public schools and college at Cape Girardeau and on November 5, 1911, at Portageville, was married to Miss Nell Cindy Thompson.
As a young man he operated "picture shows" using a large tent to show films and later was engaged in farming. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Braggadocio, where his funeral was held Monday afternoon.
The Rev. George H. Sommers officiated and burial was in Maple Cemetery with H.S. Smith service.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Nell Lewis of the home; two sons, Tom C. Lewis of Cooter and Gene Lewis of Hayti; a daughter, Miss Jewell Lewis of Braggadocio; two brothers, Chip Lewis of Braggadocio and Tom Clay Lewis of Vancouver, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Curtner of Braggadocio and Mrs. Albert Brent of Baton Rouge, La.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
