Thomas Clay Lewis, 75 years old, died at his home near Braggadocio last Friday morning at 8:40 o'clock of a heart attack.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Baptist Church in Braggadocio with the Rev. Seth Compere of Hayti conducting the services. Interment was in Maple cemetery with H.S. Smith in charge.
Mr. Lewis was one of the pioneer settlers in Pemiscot County, his home being northeast of Braggadocio on a farm. During his lifetime in this county he acquired extensive farm land and real estate holdings. He retired from active business several years ago and for several years had spent some time in Florida each winter.
Despite his advanced years he was still very active and had been in comparatively good health and his death was a shock to his friends and neighbors.
He is survived by three sons, Miles B. Lewis and Chip Lewis of Braggadocio, and Thomas Clay Lewis, Jr. of Roswell, N.M.; and two daughters, Mrs. Luther Curtner of Braggadocio ad Mrs. Albert Brent of Baton Rouge, La.
The funeral was attended by a large crowd, with friends coming from all over the county.
Pall bearers were Frank Long, Frank Stover, Earl M. Coppage, Sr., Tom Orton, Horace Bryant and Al Curtis.
