A very sad blow to the Braggadocio community, and also to his many friends in this city and other parts of the county, was the death of Charlie Lewis, son of T.C. Lewis, prominent farmer of Braggadocio, which occurred last Saturday night in a Memphis hospital.
The deceased had only been ill since Thursday and as they couldn't determine his trouble here it was thought best to take him to Memphis, where there could be x-ray pictures made, etc. He was taken to Memphis by ambulance early Friday morning and entered in the Methodist hospital in that city, where an examination showed him to have bronchial pneumonia in both lungs. He lived only until the following night and died at 10 o'clock. The body was brought home by ambulance, where it was prepared for burial.
The deceased was yet a young man, only 34 years of age at the time of his death, and was a man of the highest type and highly respected in his community as well as by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and small child, besides his parents and other relatives.
Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Baptist church in Braggadocio, conducted by a former Methodist pastor of Braggadocio, the Rev. Mr. Sadler of Holland. The funeral is said to have had one of the largest crowds ever to attend a funeral in this county and a wealth of floral offerings.
The Democrat-Argus extends sympathy to the bereaved relatives and friends of this fine young man.
