James W. Fischer, 33, a resident of Wenatchee for the past 10 years and a former Cashmere resident, died Tuesday, June 27, 1989, in Central Washington Hospital. He was born Dec. 4, 1933, at Linton, N.D., and moved to Cashmere with his family in 1946. He graduate with the Cashmere High School class of 1933, then worked for Great Northern Railroad before serving with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He married Janice K. McAbee in 1938 at Cashmere. Mr. Fischer worked at Boeing and was a welder for the Todd Shipyards on the coast before returning to Wenatchee in 1979. He had been employed by Valley Tractor as a mechanic.

Mr. Fischer was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church of Cashmere and Wenatchee Eagles N. 204.

Survivors include two sons, Barry of Richland and Michael of Sacramento, Cal., three daughters, Corinne Brice and Janine Monchaca, both of Moses Lake, and Audrey Correia, Woodland, Calif; seven brothers, Patrick and Lloyd Fischer, both of Wenatchee, Andrew Fischer of Yakima, William Fischer of East Wenatchee, Adam Werlinger of Phoenix, Roy Werlinger and Joe Werlinger, both of Milwaukee, seven sisters, Louise Fischer and Helen Repass, both of Cashmere, Marcella Stein of Lyle, Alvina Middesworth of Monroe, Bernice Mett and Katie Allen, both of Milwaukee, and Ellen Ciani of New York; and seven grandchildren.

Services were held Friday morning at St Francis Catholic Church with Father Brendan Dorian officiating. Earl Bames was organist. Internment took place in the Cashmere Cemetery. The Braun Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
