In 1942 - Bert Hart retires as Railroad Foreman after past 32 years. Mr. Hart, 65, of LaGrange, Ind., finished his long career as a foreman on the Pennsylvania Railroad on Monday of htis week. He went on the retired list and will recieve a monthyl allownance for the remainder of his life. He hass been in railoraod work practically all the time since 1897 and for hte past 32 years has held the place of foreman on the local section with distinction. He won top honors for having the bes kept section between Grand Rapids and Fort Wayne for 12 years. He was awarded $50.00 a year for six years. William Ray of Avilla has been named to succeed him at LaGrange, but he has not yet taken the post.

Bert J. Hart Dies After Long Illness, Rites Wednesday
Funeral services for Bert J. Hart, 75, retired track foreman on the Pennsylvania Railroad, were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday in the Caton and Frurip Funeral Home. Rev. Lawrence Beaver, pastor of the LaGrange Church of God officiated. Burial was in Greenwood cemetery. Mr. Hart died at 1:30 a.m., March 2, 1953 at his home in LaGrange. He had been ill for the past three years. Surviving are the widow, Dora; two daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Marie) Marks and Mrs. Wilbur (Lela) Stanner; four sons, Harlow Hart of Geneva; Lawerence and Leland Hart of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and Lloyd Hart of Kendallville; three brothers, Lon Hart of Stroh, and Allen and Alfred of Rome City, Ind. He was born in LaGrane Co., on August 22, 1877, the son of James and Barbara (Seedle) Hart.
