Silas Idrew Neese, 95, of Mayport RD 2, died at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 1984, in Brookville Hospital. Silas was born May 24, 1888 in Redbank Twp, the son of Jacob and Susanna (Emery) Neese.

In 1912 he married the former Esther Ruth Snyder, born December 16, 1892, she preceded him in death on July 24, 1968. Silas lived on the old homestead of the Neese family. He was a farmer and coal miner.

He attended Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in Redbank Township. He lived for the past five years at Jefferson Manor. Prior to that he was a lifelong resident of the Ringgold area

Survivors include four sons, Harry Neese of Indiana, Gerald Neese of Ringgold, Robert Neese of Mars and Laird Neese of Mayport RD 2; three daughters, Emogene Snyder of Mayport RD 2, Mrs Charles (Anna) Reed of Mayport RD 2, Mrs Willis (Geraldine) Minnick of Spartansburg; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at the Frank O Bly Funeral Home, Dayton, the Rev. John C. and the Rev. Ferne L. King, pastors of Hawthorn Nazarene Church, co-officiated.

Burial Eddyville Cemetery. Arrangements are by Bly.
