Conrad was the first child of Moritz Bernhardt "Morris" Hoelzel and Selma Maria Friedmann. The family lived in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany.

Conrad died of convulsions at the age of two weeks in 1889 or 1890.

His parents and younger brother, George, who was born after Conrad's death, left Germany to come to America in 1893. They settled in Missouri.

The photo at right is of Conrad's father and mother, who are seated behind two of his brothers, Elmer (1893-1982) and George Hoelzel (1891-1969). If he had survived infancy, Conrad would have been about two years older than George.

Conrad was survived by his mother and father. 8 siblings were born after his death.

Gravesite Details

Photo was damaged by a tornado that destroyed the Hoelzel home in Jefferson County, Missouri on 11 Apr 1911. Only two photos survived the storm.
