Inman - Sep. 9. - WILLIAM "WILL" CLAYTON, well known resident of the Holly Springs section, died at a Spartanburg Hospital Sunday afternoon at 5 following two years of declining health and a serious illness of 6 weeks. Mr. CLAYTON was born and reared and spent his entire life in the Holly Springs section and had been a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church for many years. He was a son of the late MARVIL and SARAH WILLIAMS CLAYTON and is survived by his wife, the former Miss HESTER SHERBERT: 2 daughters, Mrs. PEARL SOLESBEE and Mrs. LOIS BRASHEARS: 2 sons, Pvt. MILES CLAYTON of Camp Gordon, GA, and CLAUDE CLAYTON of Route 1 Duncan; 3 brothers, GEORGE and SAMUEL CLAYTON both of Greer; and SIMON CLAYTON of Route 2 Campobello: two sisters, Mrs. HATTIE DILL of Route 3, Inman and Mrs. WALTER GUY of near Seneca. Sixteen grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at the Holly Springs Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. W. Y. HENDERSON, assisted by Dr. J. DEAN CRAIN and the Rev. EDDIE LIEBERMAN. The following nephews were asked to meet at the home Tuesday morning at 10:30 and serve as active pallbearers: PAUL, HUGH, and BROOKS CLAYTON, LLYOD and CHALMER DILL and J. B. RODGERS. Deacons of the Holly Springs Baptist Church were asked to meet at the church at 10:45 and compose the honorary escort. The body will be at the home after 2 Monday afternoon.
