Carolyn Lorene Carpenter Cheek Attaway, 62, of Waco, entered her Heavenly home, Sunday, May 31, 2009, after a lengthy struggle with diabetes and kidney disease. Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, at the Gholson Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Carpenter and Pastor Darrell Price officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, at OakCrest Funeral Home.

Carolyn was born in Taylor, Texas, to Curtis Carpenter Sr. and Margaret Beatrice Lanford Carpenter. She attended school at LaVega, Gholson and West High School. She was a member of Grace Temple Baptist Church. Carolyn's passion in life was her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her dad; daughter, Cindy Karole Cheek; and three brothers.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, James Earl Attaway, of Waco; daughters, Patty Maddison and husband, David, of Waco, and Donna Renee Rhodes and husband, Stephen, of Flower Mound; son, John Wesley Cheek and wife, Tina, of Gholson; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother; and two very special friends, Della Shely and "Crazy" Carol.
