Curtis C. Carpenter, 77, of Gholson, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at his residence. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2016, at Aderhold Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 30, 2016, at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Pastor Ronnie Holmes officiating. Burial will follow in Gholson Cemetery.

Curtis was born in Waco, Texas, to the late Margaret (Lanford) and Curtis Charles Carpenter Sr. He attended schools in Waco and was a 1957 graduate of LaVega High School, where he was the quarterback for the football team. On November 17, 1962, he was united in marriage to Rose Marie Holley in Waco. Curtis worked for Lack's Furniture and Exxon USA for several years before retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Bellmead. He enjoyed all sports, feeding the hummingbirds, being outdoors, and playing dominoes with his friends Charlie Wilson and Brother McCurdy.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert "Bobby" Joseph Carpenter, Daniel "Danny" Alan Carpenter, and Don Carpenter; and sisters, Margaret Ann Baird and Carolyn Lorene Attaway.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Rose Marie Carpenter, of Gholson; sons: Kirk Carpenter, Lance Carpenter and wife, Teresa, and Brian Carpenter, all of Gholson; grandchildren: Crystal Carpenter, Chris Carpenter and wife, Katherine, Craig Carpenter, Cory Carpenter, Bryan Carpenter Jr., Maria Nunez, and Matthew Nunez; great-grandchildren: Lilly, Selena, Jesus, and Jacob; brother, Cecil Rogers; caregiver, Tina Milleman; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
