Margaret was born in Llano, Texas, to the late Curtis C. and Margaret (Langford) Carpenter. She attended LaVega Schools. On October 4, 1956 she was united in marriage to Wilson Gene Dorris, Sr. Margaret was a homemaker. She was also a caregiver for the Pritchard Family and co-owner of "Burgers and Fries" in Gholson for many years. Margaret was a Baptist and a member of the Rebekkah Lodge in Bellmead. On June 20, 2003, she married Bennie Baird in Chalk Bluff. She enjoyed playing bingo, taking trips to Shreveport, dancing, and cooking for holidays. She loved children, especially her grandkids.
Margaret is preceded in death by first husband, Wilson Gene Dorris, Sr. on September 27, 1998; brothers, Robert "Bobby" Joseph Carpenter, Daniel "Danny" Alan Carpenter, and Don Carpenter; and a sister, Carolyn Lorene Attaway.
Survivors include her husband, Bennie Baird, of Waco; sons, Wilson Gene Dorris Jr. and Eddie Dorris and wife, Renee, all of Bellmead; daughters, Beverly Weinkauf and husband, Glenn Ely, of Mexia and Jennifer Herbeck and Ernest McLemore, of Valley Mills; an adopted daughter, Tammie Hopkins, of Valley Mills; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Cecil Rogers and wife, Kathy, of Aquilla, and Curtis Carpenter Jr. and wife, Marie, of Gholson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
