Robert Joseph "Bob" Carpenter, 71, of Axtell, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at his residence. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Friday, August 3, 2007, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Troy Cobb officiating. Burial will follow in China Spring Cemetery.

Bob was known as "Grandpa" to all children who met him. He retired from Providence Hospital. Bob was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Riesel.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda Faye Carpenter; father, Curtis Charles Carpenter; and brothers, Don Carpenter and Danny Carpenter.

Survivors include wife, Sharon Carpenter, of Axtell; daughters: Donna Williams and husband, Gary, Dana Murphy and husband, Jack, of Caddo Mills, and Terri Hyles and husband, David, of Waxahachie; sons: Darrell Carpenter, Bobby Don Carpenter and wife, Kaylen, all of Gholson, Richard Ware, of Huntsville, and Keith Remlinger and wife, Tracy, of Austin; grandchildren: Misty Rogers, Gary Williams, Jr., Chasity Barnett, Candice Carpenter, Cody Don Carpenter, Sam Patrick, Nathan Patrick, Chrysti Weekes, Weston Weekes, Myranda Medlin, Zak Apperson, Leah Apperson, Stacy Ware, Siena Remlinger, and Owen Remlinger; nine great-grandchildren; mother, Margaret Carpenter; brothers, Curtis Carpenter and wife, Marie, of Gholson, and Cecil Rogers and wife, Kathy, of Aquilla; sisters, Ann Baird and husband, Bennie, of Bellmead, and Carolyn Attaway and husband, Bo, of Waco; many other relatives and friends.
