The couple lived in Kansas City for several years while Dr. Allen was teaching in a high school. They then moved to Lawrence, Kansas, where he had accepted a position as a professor at the University of Kansas. Dr. Allen preceded Ethel in death. She has resided in Macon, Missouri, since 1919. Ethel was a member of the Congregational Church.
Surviving members of her family include one brother, John Allison, Colorado Springs, Colorado; four sisters: Mrs. Frank O'Bannon Claremore, Oklahoma; Mrs. Dean Metcalf, Apple Valley, California; Mrs. Amos Hawkinson, Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Whitney Huntington, Boulder, Colorado, and many nieces and newphews.
