"Herman C. Allen '05 received the degree of bachelor of arts from McPherson College, and for the past two years has been a teacher of physics in the Kansas City high school."

On December 24, 1907 Dr. Herman C. Allen married Ethel Adelle Allison. Dr. Allen was a professor of Chemical Engineering at Kansas University at Lawrence where the family resided.

This family is buried in the McPherson City Cemetery McPherson, Kansas.

Ethel Adelle was the first born daughter of Benjamin Alexander Allison and Adelle (Delle) Ferguson Allison.

Services for Dr. Herman Camp Allen, 75, professor emeritus of chemistry at the University of Kansas who died yesterday at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas, will be held at 4:30 o'clock Friday at the Rumsey chapel here. Burial will be Saturday at McPherson, Kas.

Dr. Allen, one of the leading authorities in the state on the chemical analysis of gases and oils, retired from teaching in 1946.

He was born in McPherson and was graduated from McPherson college in 1905. He became a laboratory instructor at K.U. that year while earning a master's degree in chemistry. In 1912 he received a doctor of philosophy degree from the Cornell university.

Dr. Allen became an assistant professor at K.U. in 1908, an associate professor in 1914 and professor in 1919. From 1922 to 1932 he was director of chemical research at the university.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Allen of the home, and three sisters, Mrs. Sylvia Haraughty and Mrs. Anna Miller, Santa Monica Calif, and Mrs. Rose Lytle, Lawrence."
