DEATH SUMMONS MRS. C.M. THOMAS

Rachel Jane Craver, a daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Nelson Craver, was born April 13, 1854, in Indiana, and passed away at New Sharon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edith Allen, Wednesday evening. She came to Iowa when a girl and married Courtlandt Mitchell Thomas, February 25, 1871. One son, George, died at the age of 21 in 1905. There are five daughters living, Mrs. Cora Watson near Montezuma, Mrs. Pearl Brannan of Grinnell, Mrs. Edith Allen of New Sharon, Mrs. Leo Downey of Brooklyn, Miss Lela Thomas of New York City.

Mr Thomas preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1913. They lived on a farm north of new Sharon several years. For the past twenty-four years, she has lived in Grinnell. Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Woman's Relief Corps.
The death of Mrs. Thomas came very suddenly, She had gone to her daughter's, Mrs. Edith Allen at New Sharon last Sunday. She died Wednesday evening of heart failure.

This means the sudden break up of the home. Her daughter, Mrs. Brannan, will feel the loss of her mother very keenly. The sympathy of their many friends goes out to the bereaved family. She is survived by one brother, T.S. Craver, of New Sharon, twenty grandchildren and several great grandchildren, besides the five daughters.

Funeral services will be held at the home, 1309 Main street at 10 o'clock Monday morning instead of Saturday afternoon as previously announced. The Rev. W.J. Fowler will officiate, and Misses Wilma, Frances and Genevieve Fowler will provide the musical numbers.

Miss Lela Thomas of New York City, and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Biswell and children of Pittsburgh, Pa., are driving through to attend the funeral.
