Nellie Alderman Gardner Sheppard, age 90 of Pulaski, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at Carrington Place in Wytheville. She was born February 27,1927, in Carroll County, and was the daughter of the late Hulda McGrady Alderman & Burton Marcus Alderman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Barnett W. Gardner; a son, Darrell Barnett Gardner; and a son-in-law, Danny R. Porter. She is survived by two daughters, Imogene Porter of Pulaski and Irma Gardner of Fries; a daughter-in-law, Carol Gardner of Pulaski; a brother, Maynard Alderman of Carroll Co.; a sister, Emma Dociebell Newman of Carroll Co.; 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Heritage Church in Dublin. Interment will follow in Thornspring Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday at Heritage Church in Dublin from Noon until 2:00 p.m.
