Barnett William Gardner, 56, of Route 1, Pulaski, died Saturday evening in Pulaski Community Hospital. Born Feb. 9, 1919 in Carroll County, he was the son of the late John William Gardner & Jessie Coalson Gardner. He was a retired employee of Radford Army Ammunition Plant. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nellie Alderman Gardner, Pulaski; two daughters, Mrs. Imogene Porter and Mrs. Irma J. Jennings, both of Pulaski; and one son, Darrell B. Gardner, Pulaski. Also, four brothers, Howard Gardner, Lowman Gardner, Chester Gardner and Sherman Gardner, all of Pulaski; three sisters, Mrs. Beulah Akers and Mrs. Sarah Armstrong, both of Pulaski, and Mrs. Leona Harrison of Galax. Also, his stepmother, Mrs. Jane Gardner, Winston-Salem, NC; four half sisters; Mrs. Bessie Brown, Mrs. Irene Sands, Mrs. Violet Stafford and Mrs. Peggy Rights, all of Winston-Salem, NC; three half brothers, Leo Gardner, Eugene Gardner and John Gardner, all of Winston-Salem; and four grandchildren. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Thornspring United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clifton Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Friends may call at Stickler's Funeral. Home in Pulaski.
