Emma A. Herrington, 96, of the Sharon community, died Thursday, May 7, 2009 at her residence.Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Sharon at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 9, with burial in Sharon Cemetery. The Rev. Dan Watts will officiate. She will be placed in the Church at 9 a.m. Saturday.Mrs. Herrington was a homemaker and a grocery store owner. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sharon.She was preceded in death by her parents, Dillard and Nettie Adams; her husband, Woodard D. Herrington; four sisters, Essie Johnson, Mildred Merritt, Inez Ulmer, and Eola Hill; and two brothers, Robert Adams and J. W. Adams.She is survived by two brothers, Theodore Adams of Irving, Texas and Randolph Adams of Laurel; a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette McCarty (Emette) of Taylorsville; a son and daughter-in-law, J. D. Herrington (Gwen) of Laurel; three grandchildren; Freda Byrd (Neil), Ethan McCarty, and Lisa Herrington; and two great grandchildren, Landon Byrd and Edward Byrd.Pallbearers will be the deacons of the church.Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. this evening at Memory Chapel of Laurel, which is in charge of the arrangements.
