Nicholasville: Oakley C. Brumfield, 83, of Elsmere formerly of Nicholasville died Friday, May 4, at the St. Elizabeth Memorial Hospice Center. A native of Jessamine County he was born Sept. 15, 1923, to the late Buford and Sarah Sanders Brumfield. He was the widower of Nancy Brumfield who died in 2005. He was a US Navy veteran having served in WW II and received many medals for his service and was past Commander of the American Legion in Elsmere, Kentucky. He is survived by his son Gary Brumfield, Elsmere and step son Don Turner, Danville, 5 sisters Mildred Walker, Meredith Owens and husband Elwood, Carmen Shawler, Ann Glass and husband Bill, Neva Jean Allison, a brother W. T. Brumfield, Sr., 2 step grandchildren, 3 step great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.


Services will be held at the Brumfield-Sanders Cemetery and homestead located on Taylor Ridge at 1:00 PM Tues. May 8, with visitation from 11 AM until time of Service at the home place. Family will serve as pallbearers. Donations may be made in his memory to the Brumfield-Sanders Cemetery Fund c/o W. T. Brumfield, 117 Hillcrest, Nicholasville, Ky. 40356.
