Mr. Herd died Sunday, Nov. 12, 1978 in San Angelo. He was born in Denton County, Texas, October 27, 1897.

He married Gladys Lurlene Criner at Crum, Texas, August 11, 1918.

Mr. Herd was a retired farmer. He had lived in Wheeler County for 58 years before moving to San Angelo 1 1/2 years ago. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1972, also three sons and one grandson.

Pallbearers were: Bill Hampton, Melvin May, Furman Maxwell, Olen Maxwell, R.W. McPhillips and Elwood Shira, Clinton Nowlin.

Survivors include two sons, Maxey of San Angelo and Waymond of Fort Worth; and eight grandchildren.
