Aloysius Befort, 77, Grand Island, Neb., died Friday, May 1, 2009, at Wedgewood Care Center, Grand Island. He was born Oct. 31, 1931, near Hays to John and Barbara (Steinboch) Befort.
He received his education near Hays. He was employed as an over-the-road truck driver for Wilson Construction and later JIL Construction. He loved to play pool and enjoyed watching Nebraska football.
Survivors include his companion, Thelma Brewer, of the home; four sisters, Jane Gottschalk, Hays, Agnes England, Bernice England, and Esther Stals, all of New Bedford, Mass.; Thelma's children, Susan Dunning and husband, Don, Don Brewer and wife, Bev, and Mike Brewer and special friend, Sally, all of Grand Island, and Roger Brewer, Omaha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and several brothers and sisters.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home, Grand Island; inurnment in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Kidney Dialysis Center, Grand Island, or Kidney Foundation in care of the funeral home.
