Agnes V. (Befort) England, 89, of New Bedford died Wednesday July 20, 2011 at New Bedford Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Alfred J. England.
Born in Hyacinth, Kansas, the daughter of the late John and Barbara (Steinbock) Befort, she lived in New Bedford for the past 65 years.

Mrs. England was formerly employed as a cashier for Ma's Donuts for many years.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Senior Citizens and Brooklawn Senior Citizens.

Her family would like to thank the staff of the New Bedford Healthcare Center and Care Alternative Hospice for the excellent care given to Agnes during her illness.

Survivors include two children, Barbara J. Travers and her husband Michael of Dartmouth and Joseph J. England of Acushnet; three sisters, Esther Stals of Worcester, Bernice England of New Bedford, and Jane Gottschalk of Kansas; four grandchildren, Lisa Fernandes, Matthew England, Benjamin Travers, and Jonathan Travers; four great-grandchildren, Carly Travers, Aubree England, Cameron Nuttle, and Benjamin Travers Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Clarence, Bill, Alex, Conrad, Al, and Francis Befort, Josephine and Albina Pfiefer, and Irene Wilson.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
