Ada grew up with her 13 siblings on a farm in Almelund, Chisago County, MN. She married Nels Hogland on October 15, 1913 in Minneapolis. They had one child, Florella "Flora" Lillian. Ada died in 1916 at age 27.* It is not known what happened to Nels. Her daughter was raised by her mother's family.

Ada was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna, died in 1908: Ella, died in 1911; Jennie, died in 1912; and Nannie, died in 1913.
