Former Resident Dies in Abilene; Relatives Here (From Bryan Daily Eagle)
Mrs. Ollie Peters Andrews, aged 82 years, who died at her home in Abilene Sunday night, May 14 was a former resident of this county, and was a sister of E. U. Peters of Harvey and of Mrs. A. W. Buchanan of Bryan.
She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charley Peters, who moved form Louisiana to the Steep Hollow community in 1865, just following the close of the War Between the States. Soon after her marriage to James L. Andrews, also of the Steep Hollow community, the couple moved to Abilene. Mr Andrews died in 1939.
Funeral services were held Sunday morning, May 17, in Abilene with her pastor, Dr. Millard A. Jenkins of the First Baptist Church of which Mrs. Andrews had been a member for 46 years, conducting the funeral rights. Burial was made beside the grave of her husband.
Survivors are two sons, Gray and Ray Andrews of Abilene; four daughters, Mrs. Wylie E. Lewis, Guthrie, Okla.; Mrs. R. T. Wilson, Austin; Mrs. John N. Hodge, Houston,; and Mrs. L. E. Derryberry, Miami. Fla.; one sister, Mrs. A. W. Buchanan, and two brothers, E. U. Peters, Harvey, and Amos Peters, Hondo.
