MRS. L. B. DANSBY DEAD

Peaceful Ending of a Useful and Beautiful Christian Life

Mrs. Lou B. Dansby, widow of the late Noah W. Dansby, died at the home of her son, Mr. H. P. Dansby, at Steep Hollow, at 5 o'clock yesterday morning. Just as the first streaks of a glorious day were heraled from the east, her tired but beautiful spirit mounted the shafts of golden light and was wafted home to God.

Mrs. Dansby had been ill for a long time, for four or five years, and for many months had been confined to her bed. During all this illness no mother ever had better care, a more sleepless solicitude and tenderer ministering than she from those who were near and dear to her, and this assurance to her mother heart was a blessed comfort and stay during her last days. For months it was known that the end was only a matter of time. The thought had no terrors for her, but for the livinging there is no such thing as preparation for this great ordeal, and the foreknowledge did not lighten the blow nor make less keen their great sorrow.

Mrs. Dansby was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Peters, early settlers of the Steep Hollow community. She was a native of Louisiana and was 54 years of age. She came to this county with her parents when quite young and was reared in the community where she lived nearly all her life, and where she died. As a girl she was sweet spirited, bright, gentle, sympathetic, and none knew her but to love her. As a woman and mother she was charitable, neighborly, self-sacrificing, and her pure Christian life was an inspiration and a benediction to all. She was a faithful member of the Baptist church, and that unfaltering trust that taught her how to live soothed her in her long illness, and was a pillow of rest in death.

She is survived by an only son, Mr. H. P. Dansby; four sisters and three brothers, viz; Mrs. Anson Hudson, McGirk; Mrs. J. L. Andrews, Abilene; Mrs. A. W. Buchanan, Bryan; Mrs. O. I. Wilcox, Tabor; Mr. A. F. Peters, Hondo, Mr. J. M. Peters, Alpine; and Mr. E. U. Peters, Harvey.

She was laid to rest at Steep Hollow at 3 o'clock this afternoon in the presence of a large concourse of neighbors and friend, Rev. J. M. bullock conducting the funeral services.
