Mrs. Mary Ellen Johnston, 67, died at her home in Piney township, near Sligo, on August 7, following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Johnston was born July 12, 1880 in Piney township, a daughter of the late James and Mary Myers. On June 1, 1898 she was married to Steele S. Johnston.
Surviving are her husband and the following children: James Johnston, Sligo; Mrs. Ida Bennett, Butler; Mrs. Ruth Larimer, Sligo, R. D.; Mrs. Grace Wetzel, Burnside; Mrs. Frances Getson, Nova Scotia, Canada; Ray Johnston; Mrs. Mary Good, Clarion; Eugene Johnston, Huey; Mrs. Evelyn Wensel, Sligo; Mrs. Anna M. Best, Harrisburg; Mrs. Violet Curll, Rimersburg; Paul Johnston, at home; Mrs. Helen Best, Sligo, R. D. Also surviving are 42 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, one sister, one brother, five half sisters and three half brothers.
A funeral service was held Saturday from the Sligo Methodist church, of which she was a member, the Rev. Lloyd Chelton, assisted by the Rev. Albert J. Renwick, officiating. Interment was in the Sligo cemetery.
