Martha N (Doverspike) Caruso, 71, of New Bethlehem RD 1 died Tuesday, November 15, 1977 in Punxsutawney Area Hospital, after an extended illness.

She was born, January 8, 1906 in Armstrong County, a daughter of Alva C and Mary Catherine (Neese) Smith. She was first married to Russell C Doverspike, who preceded her in death in 1950. Later she married Henry Caruso, who survives.

Mrs Caruso was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion Auxiliary in New Bethlehem, Homemakers Club of Clarion County and the United Methodist Women's Senior Citizens of Salem.

Surviving , in addition to her husband, are: one daughter, Mrs Jay (Ida Catherine) Wolfgang of Carmichaels; three sons, James R Doverspike, Carl D Doverspike and Gary C Doverspike, all of Ringgold; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Edna Kemp of New Bethlehem RD 1 and Mrs Ethel Bowser of Kittanning; one brother, W S Smith of New Bethlehem RD 1; and two step-children, Henry E Caruso, Jr of Bradford and Mrs Robert L (Louise) Yarbrough of Ft Lauderdale, Florida.

Three sisters, Olive Harmon, Snowie Smith and Flora Smith and one brother, Russell Smith who preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm Thursday, November 17 in the Charles D Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn with Rev. Michael Holt of the Ringgold United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment was in the Mt Tabor Cemetery in Red Bank Township, Armstrong County.
