Oakland – Raymond E. Berry, 65, died Saturday morning, April 5, 1986, at a Waterville hospital. He was born in Unity, July 4, 1920, son of Clayton and Luella (Ward) Berry.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as radar man first class on a Naval destroyer in the Normandy invasion. He was employed as an auto technician for several garages in the Oakland-Waterville area, retiring from Joseph Motor Co., Waterville in 1985. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
A brother George, died March 19, 1986.
He is survived by his wife, Crystol (Roberts) Berry of Oakland; two brothers, Kenneth of Thomaston and John of Littleton, N.H.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday in the chapel of the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Augusta.
