For the past year, he had been a resident of a boarding home in Oakland. He was employed by the Burnham Division of Ethan Allen Co. for about 16 years as a foreman of both rough and finishing departments. For a number of years, he was a Maine Guide in the Moosehead Lake Region. He had been an avid hunter and fisherman and for many years, trapped and sold furs in the Unity area.
He was a member of the American Rifle Association and the Sportsman Alliance of Maine, Waterville Order of Odd Fellows and Encampment and the Unity Historical Society. He was a former member of the Sno-Dusters Snowmobile Club of Unity and a former member and past noble grand of the Unity Order of Odd Fellows.
His wife of 46 years, Vivian (Walton) Berry, died in 1983.
He is survived by three daughters, Patsy Berry of Unity, Dr. Jeanine Berry of Kingston, Ontario, Canada and Kathleen Berry of South Portland; three brothers, Raymond of Oakland, Kenneth of Thomaston and John of Littleton, N.H.; and 5 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home in Unity. Burial will be in the Pond Cemetery.
